Fidgets don’t belong in fridges. But the story of where they come from? That story absolutely lives there.
Every CHX branded fidget – and every CHX product – begins its journey inside a refrigerator or freezer that has reached end of life in a UK household. That’s not a poetic coincidence. It’s the foundation of a complete, verifiable, domestic supply chain that gives your customers genuine confidence in what they’re buying.
From End-of-Life Appliance to Premium Product
Here’s how the story unfolds.
Stage 1: UK Sourcing
We start with 3.5 million fridges and freezers discarded annually in the UK. Most end up in landfill or are shipped overseas for processing – which adds carbon miles and removes supply chain visibility. CHX does something different. We partner with UK waste specialists to source end-of-life domestic appliances. These aren’t imported waste materials or ambiguously recycled plastic from unknown origins. These are fridges and freezers from UK households, intercepted at the point of disposal.
This is the first pillar of our supply chain: traceable, domestic sourcing with zero import footprint.
Stage 2: UK Chipping and Processing
Once sourced, these appliances move to UK-based processing specialists. The refrigerator interiors – the insulation and plastic components – are extracted, cleaned, and chipped into raw material pellets. This happens domestically, in the UK, which means we maintain control over material quality and can verify every stage of the process.
Compare this to competitors who import pre-processed waste plastic or virgin materials from overseas. We’ve eliminated that step entirely. Our supply chain is domestic at every point of processing.
Stage 3: UK Manufacturing in Cornwall – Zero-Waste Production
The pellets arrive at our solar-powered manufacturing facility in Cornwall, where injection moulding transforms them into premium branded merchandise products. From a fidget to a phone stand, every item is manufactured here in the UK using renewable energy. We don’t outsource production. We don’t rely on international shipping. The product your customers receive was made in Britain, from British waste, by British manufacturing.
Within our facility, production offcuts, quality rejects, and returned items are recycled directly back into new products rather than sent to landfill – ensuring zero waste leaves the manufacturing process.
And critically, any production offcuts, quality rejects, or returned items are fed straight back into the next manufacturing cycle. Nothing leaves the UK to be disposed of elsewhere. Nothing enters the waste stream. This zero-waste manufacturing approach means we minimise waste at every stage of production.
Why This Matters to Your Distributor Customers
Sustainability claims are everywhere. “Recycled plastic” is a crowded claim space. But a complete, traceable, domestic supply chain? That’s a competitive differentiator your customers can actually communicate with confidence.
When your customer’s end-user asks, “Where does this product come from?” you can tell them the truth: UK-sourced end-of-life fridges, chipped and processed in the UK, manufactured in Cornwall using solar power. Every stage domestic. Every stage verifiable.
That’s not greenwash. That’s a story that stands up to scrutiny.
And because we control the entire domestic supply chain, we maintain pricing that works for your business. You’re not paying a premium for imported materials or international logistics. You’re buying directly from a UK manufacturer who has eliminated middlemen and supply chain complexity.
Made in Britain Member
CHX is a certified Made in Britain manufacturer (Member No. 4160), and our complete UK supply chain is central to that accreditation. We’re not just ticking a box. We’re demonstrating, at every stage, that we’ve chosen the domestic route over the easier, cheaper international alternative.
That choice makes a difference. It makes the products you are selling more compelling. It makes the products sustainability story real.
