Expanding Our Sustainable Material Portfolio: Marine Plastic and Bio-Polymer Ranges

We’re excited to announce the expansion of our material range with two innovative sustainable options: Traceable Marine Plastic and Bio-Polymer products.

For nearly 30 years, we’ve manufactured promotional merchandise exclusively from recycled plastic as our standard material, with the later addition of R+ biodegradable options for products requiring end-of-life solutions. But we’ve recognised that the market is evolving – distributors are increasingly fielding enquiries from customers seeking specific sustainability credentials beyond standard recycled content.

This shift has driven us to introduce two new material categories that address different environmental priorities whilst maintaining the print quality and durability you expect from CHX Products.

Traceable Marine Plastic: Verifiable Coastal Impact

Through our partnership with Waterhaul, we’ve created a traceable supply chain recovering plastic waste from harbours, coasts and waters around the UK. Every batch of pellets carries a unique code linking directly to the specific recovery project, providing verifiable impact.

But we’ve taken our commitment further. 5% of profits from all Traceable Marine Plastic products are donated to Surfers Against Sewage, supporting ongoing marine conservation efforts. This means every order contributes to protecting UK coastal waters beyond the material recovery itself.

For customers conducting sustainability assessments, this material offers perhaps the most compelling environmental narrative – UK coastal recovery, complete traceability, and charitable contribution all in one product.

Bio-Polymer: Plant-Based Innovation

Our Bio-Polymer range represents a departure from plastic altogether. Derived from sugar and maize feedstock byproducts, this plant-based material appeals to customers specifically seeking reduced fossil fuel dependence whilst maintaining familiar plastic-like properties in the finished product.

The material offers renewable content credentials whilst delivering the durability and print quality required for effective promotional merchandise. For customers prioritising bio-based alternatives, this provides a genuine solution rather than a compromise.

Four Materials, Four Environmental Stories

Our complete material portfolio now comprises:

  • Recycled plastic – our proven standard material
  • R+ biodegradable – recycled content with biodegradability
  • Traceable Marine Plastic – UK coastal recovery with charitable support
  • Bio-Polymer – plant-based renewable alternative

This expanded range creates opportunity for you to match material stories to specific customer values. A corporate sustainability report might prioritise verified marine plastic recovery with trackable impact metrics. A festival organiser might value bio-based content and reduced carbon footprint. A retail promotion might simply require cost-effective recycled content.

We’re here to help you navigate these options and select the most appropriate material for each customer’s sustainability priorities.

Made in Our Solar-Powered, Zero-Waste Facility

All four materials are manufactured in our Cornwall facility using solar power and our zero-waste approach – where any manufacturing waste is recrushed and reused within our material stream. We hold very limited stock and mould and print to order, meaning products are only manufactured when sold, eliminating inventory waste entirely.

UK manufacturing provides complete supply chain traceability, reduced transport emissions, and the agility to respond rapidly to your custom requirements.
